Virtual Santa Visits: The 7 Best Ways to Spread Holiday Cheer

Given the surge in COVID-19 cases both locally and across the country, going to see Santa this year is simply not the smartest, safest move to make with your little ones. But the big guy is an indelible part of the Holiday season, and Christmas simply isn’t the same without him! Thankfully, there are plenty of great ways to celebrate at a safe distance. Though kids may not be able to sit on Santa’s lap this year, you can still help them enjoy a safe Santa visit with one of the many below options:

1. Macy’s Santaland

For many, visiting Santa at Macy’s is a time-honored tradition. It’s something as natural as peanut butter and jelly, or egg nog and Christmas carols. But, while visiting St. Nick in person is a no-go, the department store has developed a brand new experience, which includes a special greeting from Santaland elves, interactive games, a virtual tour of Santa’s workshop, and an interactive meet-and-greet with the man himself. Plus, you have access to a photo of the special moment, and perhaps best of all, the whole occasion is absolutely free of charge!

2. JingleRing: Virtual Santa and Mrs. Claus

The JingleRing experience is unlike any other virtual visit on this list! For $19.95 you can receive a recorded message or a live call for just $5 more. This customized experience includes options for ethnicity, language (including ASL), and faith — allowing for a fun occasion for up to five kids with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. For an additional fee, you can choose from a curated list of holiday stories and classic tales for Storytime! No apps or software are needed, a laptop with a camera will do the trick (although for the best experience, a high-quality web camera is ideal).

3. Choose your Santa with Cameo

Cameo is more known for celebrity shout-outs and videos than delivering Christmas cheer, but this year is different. Numerous Santas are available, ready to produce customized messages to your loved ones. While a traditional Santa greeting or live-chat is a must for the little ones, there are some other options to consider, in particular for those expecting coal in their stockings. That’s right, Bad Santa and Stripping Santa are available to bring the seasonal spice this year.

You and your loved ones will journey through Santa’s home at the North Pole. Like many of the other Santa experiences, you can personalize the video call with names, ages, wish lists, and a funny moment that happened this year. Plus, the Elftastic package includes an edited video of the call, print-at-home Nice List certificates with your kid(s) name(s) on them, and both horizontal and vertical photos of your kids on screen.

6. Sam’s Club Santa

Bring a little magic to your household this year with the help of Sam’s Club. Their virtual visit with Santa allows parents to personalize the session, with options such as choosing the Santa that best suits your family and the ability to give your child’s name and age for added charm.

7. T-Mobile Video Call with Santa

From now until December 23rd, you can schedule a video call with Santa. T-mobile is allowing even non-customers this opportunity. There is a significant catch with this one though because you are unable to reserve your Santa any number of days in advance. You are forced to reserve a spot on the same day, and reservations open at 12pm EST each day.
