“Remember back in the day when real estate was valued based upon the views that they came with?” That is what we will all contemplate in the very near future.
Whether you are of the modern minimalist mind set or into the quaint throws of sweet Pari you may soon have the ability to have it all depending on how your current mood suits you. They are called Virtual Windows and will be coming to a home or office near you soon!
The technology that makes this possible is called Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode or (AMOLED) for short. AMOLED’s have been in development for some time now but this year Apple has been rumored to be in negotiations with Samsung (one of the world’s largest manufacturer of AMOLED displays) for their iPAD 3. This explains why Samsung’s manufacturing projections for the coming year have been surprisingly high.
So you’re probably wondering what does an iPAD have to do with you. With any new technology the cost of manufacturing is typically extremely high during the first few years of the commercial release. Once all of the manufacturing companies have re-tooled to fit the new technology, only then is when you will see prices drop. The fact that Apple has the largest following in the world for its products means that the prices of AMOLED displays will be cheap enough to make it cost effective to wallpaper the walls of our homes with them.
My guess is that we will see them first commercially in Gyms, Spas, or the waiting rooms of Dental offices where windows typically come with a large price tag but the soothing affects of a wind-swept beach can have a profoundly positive affect for the clients and patrons of a business. When the cost comes down within reach of the average consumer I know I’ll be the first in line for my Dubai Penthouse view!
