Last year the real estate market did not have the most prosperous year. Compared with previous years, there was definitely a decrease in the number of home sales. One seller was fortunate enough last year to make the biggest sale of the year.
The most expensive home sold in 2009 was a $35 million 8,704-square-foot home. Co-founder of the aerospace and defense company TRW sold the home to DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg in April. The four bedroom, eight bathroom home was built in 1965. This house was not listed on the market and the only information found was due to public records.
A 27,000-square-foot Beverly Hills home took second place with a sale price of $31.5 million. The three-story mansion has 10 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, seven fireplaces and a library that has a glass floor with a 2,500-bottle wine cellar below it. The mansion would not be complete without an indoor pool and gym. Richard Landry was the mastermind behind the design for this breathtaking mansion.
A $26.5 million home with beautiful ocean and city views was sold in July. In March, a Bel-Air four bedroom and seven bathroom home was sold for $22 million. Ranking in fifth place for the most expensive homes was a 7,459 square foot home sold in December for $19.9 million.
