As a city steeped in occult history, Los Angeles isn’t unique. Yet, LA’s occult history seems much more a part of its character than New York’s, Chicago’s, or San Francisco’s. Maybe it’s the Hollywood dream machine, holding up a magnifying lens to anything that even remotely interests us. Maybe it’s California’s reputation as a harbor […]
Seth Styles
Having spent over a decade in creative roles across a variety of industries, Seth brings with him vast experience in SEO practices, digital marketing, and all manner of professional writing with particular strength in blogging, content creation, and brand building. Gratitude, passion, and sincerity remain core tenets of his unwavering work ethic. The landscape of the industry changes daily, paralleling JohnHart’s efforts to {re}define real estate, but Seth works to maintain the company’s consistent message while offering both agents and clients a new echelon of service.
When not preserving the JohnHart essence in stirring copy, Seth puts his efforts into writing and illustrating an ongoing series entitled The Death of Romance. In addition, he adores spending quality time with his girlfriend and Romeo (his long-haired chihuahua mix), watching ‘70s and ‘80s horror movies, and reading (with a particular penchant for Victorian horror novels and authors Yukio Mishima and Bret Easton Ellis). He also occasionally records music as the vocalist and songwriter for his glam rock band, Peppermint Pumpkin.

If that trend continues, we may see […]

The Surprisingly True Story of the Nude Beach Los Angeles Tried, and Failed, to Maintain
By most accounts, Los Angeles is a pretty liberal city. We’re just not the most progressive city when it comes to nudity. Don’t want tan lines? Then you’ll need a private pool, a tanning salon membership, or a lot of boldness and luck. Because it’s been decades since there was a nude beach Los Angeles […]
Catalina Island Conservancy Will Not Pursue Aerial Mule Deer Hunting
Featured image credit: Kiloueka A few months back, we published a blog with recommendations of things to do on Catalina Island. Hunting wasn’t on our list. But it turns out that mule deer hunting may be in the island’s not-too-distant future. The Catalina Island Conservancy has been struggling with the island’s invasive mule deer population. […]
LA Home Spotlight: The Lummis House
Featured image credit: Afpeach Los Angeles isn’t known for its castles… but we’ve got them. There’s the Wolf’s Lair, the Hollywoodland storybook castle of Bud Wolf. Not to be confused with the Hollywood Castle where you can rent yourself into the monarchy for a night. Then there’s Glendora’s Rubel Castle, possibly the closest analog to […]
California Cannabis Cafe Bill Would Put a Little More Focus on the Cafe Side of Things
Not to fan the flames of any stoner stereotypes, but munchies are a very real thing. And if State Representative Matt Haney (D) has his way, they might finally get curbed. He wants the state’s cannabis cafe locations to serve food prepared onsite. It doesn’t seem like a particularly controversial take. In fact, his Assembly […]
Baxter Street is One of the Steepest Streets in LA… But It’s Still Not the Steepest
Featured image credit: Matsujima At first glance, most people would agree that LA has nothing on San Francisco’s hilly streets. In parts of San Francisco, the streets can feel a half-step removed from a roller coaster. While you may think you’re plunging down the steepest street in the world as you hurtle down Frisco’s 22nd […]
Beyond the Purrrfectly Pink Doors of the Trixie Motel Palm Springs
If you think that Palm Springs could do with a little more… strike that… A LOT more pink, you’re in luck. The prodigiously pink Trixie Motel opened its doors to guests on Thursday, September 1st. For some, it’s yet another boutique hotel to consider for the next weekend getaway. But to others, it’s an unabashed […]
