We try to refrain from discussing politics on the JohnHart Real Estate blog, but in an election year, it’s almost unavoidable. But we think it’s pretty clear which side we’re supporting anyway. After all, Jon Barrist is one of our highly talented and insightful Palm Springs agents. We’re of course talking about the recent election […]
Seth Styles
Having spent over a decade in creative roles across a variety of industries, Seth brings with him vast experience in SEO practices, digital marketing, and all manner of professional writing with particular strength in blogging, content creation, and brand building. Gratitude, passion, and sincerity remain core tenets of his unwavering work ethic. The landscape of the industry changes daily, paralleling JohnHart’s efforts to {re}define real estate, but Seth works to maintain the company’s consistent message while offering both agents and clients a new echelon of service.
When not preserving the JohnHart essence in stirring copy, Seth puts his efforts into writing and illustrating an ongoing series entitled The Death of Romance. In addition, he adores spending quality time with his girlfriend and Romeo (his long-haired chihuahua mix), watching ‘70s and ‘80s horror movies, and reading (with a particular penchant for Victorian horror novels and authors Yukio Mishima and Bret Easton Ellis). He also occasionally records music as the vocalist and songwriter for his glam rock band, Peppermint Pumpkin.
Los Angeles Architecture 101: Postmodern Architecture
Featured image credit: Anonymous9119 We’ve had fun looking deep into LA’s history for our Los Angeles Architecture 101 series, but today we’re going to give our eyes a bit of a rest and look at something a little closer in the rearview mirror. We’re talking about a style so current that it’s beyond modern… it’s […]
Absorption Rate Analysis – July 2024: This Market’s Healthier Than You Think
At first glance, July seemed like a rebound month for LA’s absorption rates (with a few outliers, of course). But what’s not obvious by simply looking at the statistics is that we sold more homes in nearly every market in July than we did in June. Summertime is often one of the hottest times for […]
Joshua Tree/Palm Springs Home Spotlight: The Invisible House & Mirage House Hold a Mirror Up to Our Expectations
Our final home spotlight of the year is actually the tale of two structures, though not traditional homes by any stretch. It’s a story about chasing the end of a mirage only to run smack dab into the real thing without even seeing it. A tale in which one person may see reflection while the […]
Find an Authentic Taste of Scotland at Atwater’s Iconic Tam O’Shanter
Photo credit: Lawry’s Restaurants, Inc. Atwater Village feels a world away from the Scottish Highlands. Yet, it’s a different story between Boyce and Revere Avenue. On the south side of Los Feliz Boulevard, you’ll find a generously-sized sanctuary saturated with Scottish flavor. If you’ve ever driven by, you’ve no doubt noticed it. An inn seemingly […]
Echo Park’s Time Travel Mart Teaches a Timeless Lesson
Life in modern Los Angeles can be wild… especially if you’re not from this era. Just take it from the volunteers at Echo Park’s Time Travel Mart. It’s a place where a glance up at a security monitor reveals browsing Victorians and spacemen stocking up on anti-cloning fluid and silly putty. Extinct birds languidly sip […]
The Real Story Behind LA’s Secret Stairs
Photo credit: Jengod What does a city so reliant on automobiles need with public staircases? Still, you’ll find them scattered inconspicuously all across the city from Pacific Palisades to Echo Park and Pasadena to Silver Lake. These remnants of old LA are often referred to as “secret stairs” though this is more a result of […]
Where to Stargaze Near the Greater Palm Springs Area
We’re officially into stargazing season. For the six months spanning from mid-March to mid-October, people across the country flock to the most remote areas. Their mission: to observe the twinkling nocturnal expanse above without light pollution. We’re spoiled by a wealth of options in the Greater Palm Springs area and Southern California in general. This […]
LA Home Spotlight: The Upton Sinclair House
Featured image credit: Doncram Recently voted an All-America City by the National Civic League, Monrovia manages to maintain a small-town feel despite being part of bustling Los Angeles County. It’s a great place to go for peace and serenity. Perhaps this, more than anything, is what attracted American novelist and lightning rod for political and […]
