Realtors heed our warning, the big bad Hackers, Spammers, Phishers, and all around Scammers, are coming to get you!
Last week we saw the massive hack of Docusign.com, which controls most of the electronic signatures for the real estate industry, and if they can be touched anyone can.
We’re going to start posting what we find, in the hopes that we can help all of you agents and brokers out there, but if you see one before we do please comment on the blogs and we’ll feature it!
This time it’s an email that appears to be coming from Zillow and/or Trulia (Exhibit A), but if you look into the headers of the email you can see that it is actually coming from some unknown site (Exhibit B) that is trying to manipulate (spoof) Zillow in an attempt to make it appear legitimate.
Once clicked through, and don’t try this at home kids, you are taken to a site that looks like a perfectly legitimate log in page for Zillow / Trulia and even uses their Premier Agent logo! Notice, however, that while it looks legitimate the URL for the site is neither Zillow nor Trulia, it is instead some “Book-Request” domain which is unaffiliated (Exhibit C).
So we’re calling this one the Book Request scam – the worst part? Despite what the email says, you have not won an award for 10 x Top Listings in 2017!!! 😉
Keep your eyes open folks, there are a lot of tricks coming at Realtors right now!
