Unless you are one of the lucky few living in a 10,000-square-foot house, LA can feel very cramped at times. “Living large” is part of modern day mantras now, but this is beyond large, this is more like “sitting pretty, and living universe”.
Some of these homes will put the white house to shame! These gargantuan residences are bigger than some airports, and they can house a few planes too. For me, the best part about living in a huge house would be that I can easily avoid my terrible siblings. Besides the fact that the AC bill on these behemoths are probably more than your mortgage, and the property tax is more than I make a year, I wouldn’t mind lounging around in these humble abodes during spring break. Here is a look at the five largest homes in America that are currently on the market. Whip out the AMEX – we’re going shopping 😉
Address: 5115 Northside Drive, Atlanta, Georgia
Size: 30,000 square feet
Price: $8 million
Talk about sitting pretty, this Mediterranean style home is nestled on 3.4 acres in a gated community and has 8 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms (I don’t understand the more baths then beds ordeal), not to mention a cigar room, elevator, putting green, in-law suite, 12-seat theater, and wine cellar. Hmm, not bad for 8 mil, I’ll take two, thanks.
They are watching a movie about their own house, that’s how epic it is.
Address: 7 Fox Hunt Road, Barrington, Illinois
Size: 30,000 square feet
Price: $18.775 million
Giddy up! This is horse country galore! This sprawling mansion is located on a whopping 70 acres of landscaped, trailed and perfectly trimmed horse property. With nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms (I love proportionate homes), a full-sized English pub, wine cellar, imported Italian solarium, state of the art fitness center, massage room, of course an elevator, some putting greens here and there and a full library, you can bet these guys don’t have to leave the house much. But that’s not all, you also have a basketball and tennis court, helipad (no worries, you can park your helicopter over to the right), a car collectors dream garage, and one of nicest movie theaters I have ever seen. Disneyland? Yeah right, these kids have a dream park in their backyard!
Address: 18 Frick Drive, Alpine, New Jersey
Size: 30,000 square feet
Price: $48.88 million
Located eight miles from New York City, this 12-bedroom, 19-bathroom Stone Mansion Estate features a ballroom (or what I like to call a baller room), a movie theater, an indoor basketball court, tennis court, a 4,000-bottle wine cellar, a fitness hub and three bars(because they had to out-do the neighbors, who only have two bars). Let’s not forget the fully equipped staff apartment and separate pool house. Man, being this fancy sounds exhausting doesn’t it?
Address: 301 North Carolwood Drive, Holmby Hills, California
Size: 38,000 square feet
Price: $150 million
Annnnd here comes LA boasting its own fancy. If having your own movie theater and helipad wasn’t entertaining enough, this expression of boundless creativity has its own club, beauty parlor, nail salon, and steam and massage rooms, the spa showcases an indoor water wall that spills into a lap pool, a club and valet service. Among the stars resides this newly built spec home with 10 bedrooms and 20 full bathrooms (with 20 bathrooms, this place sounds perfect to host Coachella at). It includes “Club Mon Rêve,” which apparently is an entertainment area with a lounge, theater complex, and wine room. Outside amenities include a fireside lounge, a lap pool, several sports courts and a tree-lined hiking trail. The master bedroom alone is 5,300 sqft, more than enough to trump the average lot size for a home in the U.S. I plan on heading over here soon, imagine how epic my selfie would be.
Address: 935 Hillsboro Mile, Hillsboro Beach, Florida
Size: 47,774 square feet
Price: $159 million
And we present to you, Le Chateau de Versailles-built in 2016. This magnificent Beaux Arts masterpiece boasts 60,000 sqft, with room to park both of yours yachts, how thoughtful! 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms encompassed in this dwelling that resides on Millionaire’s Mile. The Palace has the 1st ever IMAX Home Theatre in the world, 4,500 sqft infinity-edge pool with an LED lit double loop slide. Marble, hand molded plaster, a 2-million-dollar grand staircase, 22K gold leaf finishes, custom security, music production-level audio system, complete soundproofing. Six water falls, 26 foot 3-tier fountain, plunge pool, putting green, 30-car garage. Oh as well as a Go-cart track, Ice skating rink and a 120-year-old Chandelier from Austria.
Well I must say, after reading all of this, It’s going to be hard to appreciate my 5×5 sqft shared room, half bath, and somewhat of a make-shift putting green I like to call my backyard, all shared with 6 other people…ahem.
Stay humble and stay hungry my friends
