However, a $137 million interchange project that connects the 91 and 71 freeways opened in the summer of 2025, bringing a little much-needed relief. This infrastructure improvement replaces a single-lane ramp with a double-lane connection loop that separates merging traffic, thus maintaining a smoother traffic flow. The Corona Crawl is still very much a thing. But it’s not the legendary beast it once was.

Before you begin perusing homes for sale in Corona CA, you should also understand that it’s pretty much a commuter city. Therefore, if you’re moving from LA’s more walkable neighborhoods like Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and Echo Park, you could be in for a shock. With its proximity to the Cleveland National Forest and the Santa Ana Mountains, it offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors through hiking trails, recreation areas, and stunning natural vistas. 

If safety is a top priority, then you’ve got another strong reason to consider homes for sale in Corona CA. It’s generally safer than the rest of California and the country as a whole. While the United States has a crime rate of 120 violent incidents per 100,000 residents, California has 98, and Corona has only 50. It’s one of several reasons that Corona remains so popular with families. 

How Much of a Deal Are You Getting?

But it’s also important to recognize how quickly additional fees can whittle away the savings of a low listing price when considering homes for sale in Corona CA. Buyers need to be vigilantly aware of tacked-on HOA fees in certain neighborhoods, gauge the estimated monthly utility costs, plus commuter costs. When you start to factor in vehicle wear-and-tear, toll fees for the 91 freeway, and the cost of running your air conditioning in the summer, a Corona home may not be the deal you initially imagined. Or it could be absolutely perfect. You just need to do your homework.
