Manny Ramirez Arrested but Good News, Boston Penthouse Finally Sold!

Manny Ramirez gets arrested but there is good news, he finally sold his Boston Penthouse!

Ramirez bought the 37th floor penthouse of the Residence at Ritz Carlton for $5,778,790 in October 2001.  In 2005 he put the home on the market for the first time, but with the market down there weren’t any buyers so he eventually took it down.

Approximately a year after he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, which landed him a $45 million deal, Ramirez put the penthouse back on the market with an asking price of $8.5 million in 2009.

The property is on Boston Common and offers 4 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.  There are 4,425 square feet of living space and the master suite takes 1,100 square feet of that.  The bedroom has 2 bathrooms and 7 custom closets.  The guestroom provides an en-suite with marble floors, custom closets, and amazing views.

The penthouse has floor to ceiling windows with city and park views.  There are marble floors in the oversized living room.  The formal dining room includes custom built-ins and views of Beck Bay.  The kitchen is open including a breakfast area and leads to a private deck, one of Boston’s highest.

The property amenities include 3 valet parking spaces, a doorman, and concierge.

The Boston property finally sold after the price dropped $3 million to the final selling price of $5.5 million, making it the 3rd most expensive condo sale in Boston this year.

This sale does include a little drama…which is expected for any “Ramirez” story.

According to the Boston Globe, Boston real estate agent Michael Doherty claims he was fleeced out of his $110,000 commission by the property buyer, despite introducing them to the property years ago. According to the claim placed in Suffolk Superior Court, Doherty claims the buyers then went directly with the listing agent and claimed to have no representation, leaving him without a commission on the sale.
