Here are some of our top picks for local events that will be taking place right here in Palm Springs this upcoming month. Take your pick and mark your calendars. 1) Cinema Diverse LGBTQ+ Film Festival

This vibrant film festival will be celebrating its 16th anniversary this year. The LGBTQ+ Film Festival is back and promises to screen the best LGBTQ+ cinema from around the world. The Palm Springs LGBTQ Film Festival emphasizes the importance of these cinematic pieces on their website, stating that they are, “critical to our local community, and to the world community, because they tell stories that remind us of where we came from, who we are, and who we can be.” Streaming films include: Cancer is Gay, Beautiful Dreamer, City of Queens, Galore, and Fall Back Down. 2) Barbie Drag Brunch

The title says it all! Serve up your best Barbie impression in pink while you get served up delicious brunch. Hosted by Epiphany Kali, the Reforma also promises to transform their space into the Barbie Dream House for the special event. 3) WWE SuperShow

For the first time ever, WWE is coming to the Coachella Valley. The WWE SuperShow will feature WWE megastars such as Cody Rhodes, ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio (son of legendary Mysterio), Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Jimmy Uso, and many more. 4) Cirque de Soleil: Corteo

The world famous Cirque du Soleil is coming to Palm Desert. If you’ve seen Cirque de Soleil before, you know that many of their shows encompass a theme. For example, in Las Vegas, there is commonly the Cirque de Soleil Michael Jackson ONE show. For this upcoming Palm Springs Show in September, the theme is Corteo. The word “corteo”, which means cortége in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. This Cirque du Soleil will tell a beautiful story about a clown who has passed away, but his spirit is still with us. Instead of mourning, this performance is focused on happiness and laughter. Popular standup comedian Matt Rife is making his way to Palm Springs. After quickly selling out his Palm Desert show on Saturday, September 2nd, a second date has been added. Come see this hilarious comedian in the flesh at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Friday, September 1st. The young talent made his claim to fame on Nick Cannon’s Wild ‘n Out and since has also graced our screens on shows like The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars. 6) Hot Wheels: Monster Trucks

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live is coming to Palm Springs this September. These monster trucks are no ordinary trucks – they glow in the dark! According to the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live website, this event is all about lighting up the floor “in outrageous monster truck competitions and battles.” In addition to monster trucks, there will also be dazzling performances, laser light shows, and Hot Wheels toy giveaways. 7) Foreigner LIVE in Concert

If you don’t want to live a life full of regrets then this is your LAST chance to see this popular band in concert. Foreigner announced this will be their last-ever tour. Having rose to fame in the late ’70s, the band has had decades of success and charting hits such as “I Want to Know What Love Is” (1984), “Hot Blooded” (1978), “Cold as Ice” (1977), “Waiting for a Girl Like You” (1984), and “I Don’t Want to Live Without You” (1987), just to name a few! 8) Sunday Makebreak: Pumpkin Fest

The first day of fall is September 22nd, and Smoke Tree Commons is kicking off pumpkin-season STRONG with an in-store pumpkin fest at Michaels. You’ll be able to purchase your craft pumpkin and utilize decoration supplies for free to deck out your pumpkin any way you’d like to get it ready to display proudly either on your front porch, deck, or even inside your house. 9) USA TODAY Wine + Food Experience

USA TODAY Wine & Food Experience is bringing fine dining to the table alongside sommeliers and mixologists serving up some impressive wine and spirits. Indulge in food tastings from local chefs and enjoy some live music and demonstrations, all with a glass in-hand. General Admission Advanced Tickets are $65 but will be $85 the day of the event. VIP Admission is currently $100 but will be $115 the day of the event. 10) Dirty Bingo

For dirty, inappropriate minds only is this raunchy bingo game taking place on Sunday, September 17th at PS UNDERGROUND. The venue warns that this event is serious business. Audience members must sign a waiver that they won’t be offended by anything before being able to enter. Participants can expect outrageously filthy songs, colorful characters, and revealing costumes. Be prepared to laugh your bum off and partake in free-flowing cocktails that come along with your ticket cost, which is $69 (of course). Palm Springs Bingo participants are encouraged to dress the part as well. The PS UNDERGROUND site urges you to wear something, “flamboyant, trashy, provocative, over-the-top, and (the) crazier the better.” Get your tickets to DIRTY BINGO and bring along all your like-minded raunchy friends for a hilarious, uncensored Sunday.
