Brad Pitt places his Malibu home on the market.
Rumors began back in early February 2009 that Pitt quietly floated the Malibu property as an $18 million pocket listing on the Malibu real estate market. Two years later it hasn’t sold and now he has placed it on the open market with a lower asking price of $13.75 million.
Shortly after Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston split in 2004 he purchased the home for $8.4 million.
One of Pitt’s hobbies is to restore older homes, mid-century homes in particular. The 47 year old actor is a self-professed architecture buff. Pitt spent several millions and years on renovating this 1962 mid-century home specifically.
The property is a contemporary 4,000 square foot house sitting on 1.26 acres. The 4 bedroom 4 bathroom home (clearly too small for their “little” family) is situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Point Mugu State Park.
The home features dark bamboo flooring in the main living spaces. The California coastline can be viewed through the floor to ceiling glass walls that overlook the ocean and various courtyards. You can also get a panoramic view of the coastline from the patios and decks around the house.
The interior includes a living room, dining room, family room, and a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances which include a walk-in refrigerator and freezer. If you like fireplaces you’ll be pleased to know there are three, two indoors and one outdoors.
At the front of the house there is a tight motor court. There’s access to a somewhat remote beach from private stairs that lead from the home to a sandy beach cove. Outdoors there is a tennis court and lap-lane swimming pool.
The Pitt-Jolie family does not primarily live at the Malibu home but rather spend most of their time abroad. Their primary home would be in Europe at the Chateau Miraval. The Chateau Miraval is an 880 acre property located in the South of France and newly renovated of course.
In addition to the Malibu and France home they have more pricey properties. The couple has another ocean from property outside Santa Barbara, an enormous compound in Los Angeles, a historic mansion in New Orleans, and an apartment in New York.
Currently Brad Pitt is filming a movie in Scotland and while the moving is being made the couple is renting a 16th century estate there.
