4) Create An At-Home Cinema Experience
Create a cinema experience at-home, or even better, in your backyard if you have one. In 2020, at-home projectors became all the rage, along with drive-in movie theaters. If you have a projector, we recommend taking advantage of the Los Angeles weather and creating a romantic outdoor setting for yourself and your partner. You can do this by projecting your favorite rom-com on the wall, or on the outside of your home, pop some popcorn, and stock up on your favorite snacks. Blankets are a must and a great perk of being able to watch a movie from home as opposed to a movie theater. Don’t have a projector? We recommend this one. Amazon’s Choice with over 24k ratings. Currently on sale for $79.
If you aren’t up for the projector idea, there’s nothing wrong with cozying up on the couch and making it a classic movie night with your beverage and snack of choice.

Or, plan ahead and order a simple, yet delicious, pre-portioned meal from companies like HelloFresh, HomeChef, Sun Basket, or BlueApron. They provide the ingredients and the instructions, all you have to do is follow-through with your partner. They know what tastes best, so you don’t have to waste time stressing about finding the perfect recipe or ingredients.
6) Create An At-Home Spa Experience
There’s nothing like a pamper session to de-stress with your partner. Massages are also a great way to show one another affection, especially if physical touch is one of your Love Languages. With this in mind, some necessities for an at-home massage include: massage oil, towels for your head & under your body (don’t want any oil stains on your sheets!), candles, and of course a romantic Spotify playlist. If you aren’t confident in your massage skills – we recommend you take a quick 10 minutes to learn some techniques via a YouTube Tutorial.
To save you some time, here are links to everything you could possibly need.

You can also order a foot spa online, or order some bubble bath solution and enjoy a romantic evening in the tub. The possibilities are endless!
7) Paint ‘N Pour
Get in touch with your creative side and leap beyond your comfort zone by embarking on an artistic journey with your partner. Paint ‘n Sip and Paint ‘n Pour studios became very popular in recent years, and for good reason too. Even non-artistic people, with guidance, are able to create very frame-worthy art in only an hour or less. All you have to do is grab your favorite beverage of choice, traditionally an alcoholic one, order art supplies online, and let a YouTube tutorial guide the way. Typically during a Paint ‘n Pour, each participant will have their own canvas. However, if you have faith in your relationship and want to test the waters, we encourage you to work together on your masterpiece.
For Art supplies, you will need acrylic paint, a canvas, and brushes.

9) At-Home Camping or “Glamping”
Both indoor and outdoor camping are possibilities in 2021. If you have the luxury of a backyard, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to take advantage of your lush outdoor space for a nature-filled date-night. If you live in a condo or apartment complex – there are still plenty of romantic ways to camp indoors, and have sparks fly (without the fire).
Backyard:
If you have a backyard, having an outdoor adventure with the comfort of a nearby indoor bathroom makes for the ideal starry night. Pitch a tent, make some savory food together over the campfire, along with hot cocoa, and of course: S’mores! It is as picturesque and romantic as it gets: cozy up with your partner under some blankets, stare at the stars and make a new unforgettable memory together.
Indoors:
Who says forts are just for kids? Pinterest disagrees. This social media platform is full of romantic indoor tent setups that you and your partner can mimic. String lights are a MUST. Tap into your playful side and create an epic fort with your loved one. Building something together can be fun, and the outcome will be ever-so-romantic. Supplies will include bed sheets, pillows, string lights, pillows, a blanket, and any other romantic necessities you can think of.
10) Make A Vision Board Together
Creating a vision board may sound silly to some, but having common goals together as a couple, visualizing, and planning how you are going to achieve them together, is an extremely powerful way to bring two people closer together. Working towards common goals will tightly bond you, and is a doorway that opens you both up to intimate, meaningful, deep conversations. Make your Valentine’s Day count this year by laying out stepping stones to build your future with your partner. Not only is this collaborative idea a way to strengthen your relationship, but it is also remarkably fun! To prepare, you’ll need a giant poster board, 4-6 magazines, scissors, and either double-sided tape or a glue stick.
Need to know what a vision board is and how to make one? Here’s all you have to do in three simple steps:
- Talk with your partner. Set goals and prioritize: What are your one-year goals? You can answer this in terms of your career, personal life, family life, and in your relationship. This could include travel, income, upgrading to a home, getting fit, getting better with communication, etc.
- Write goals and ideas on your poster board.
- Pair images with words on your vision board using the magazines you purchased or had laying around your home.
It’s that simple! Have some fun with it. Feel free to upload a photo of your vision board and tag our Facebook Page: JohnHart Real Estate. We’d love to see!
