Given the soaring hot temperatures, poor air quality, and COVID-19 still looming, we have multiple perfect excuses to continue binge-watching our favorite cinematic adventures. Lucky for us, big names like Netflix are still pumping out some seriously entertaining and award-worthy content. Here is the low-down on what noteworthy movies they are dropping this September:
1. Cuties / Mignonnes
Release Date: September 9th
Streaming App: Netflix
This 2020 Sundance Film Festival standout is causing quite a buzz. We promise this Foreign (French) Drama/Comedy is like nothing you have ever seen or heard of before. This unique plot follows an 11-year-old girl who rebels against her family to become a part of a twerking dance crew. It does not get more interesting than that. Relatable? Not likely. Entertaining? Very likely.
2. The Devil All The Time
Release Date: September 16th
Streaming App: Netflix
This Netflix Original will also be gracing our screens in due time. Featuring acting veterans Tom Holland and Robert Pattison, this psychological thriller is based on a novel and follows a young man devoted to his family as he fights off evil and sinister characters bleeding throughout his town.
3. Enola Holmes
Release Date: September 23rd
Streaming App: Netflix
Featuring Stranger Things’ breakout star Millie Bobby Brown, this film is going to be the tip-of-the-tongue for many come the end of September. Enola Holmes follows a girl searching for her missing mother while trying to also outsmart her big brother- the already famous Sherlock Holmes- all while simultaneously helping a runaway lord. This plot is sure to be jam-packed with action and wit; you most definitely will not want to miss this release. This mystery film is already generating a massive buzz just by its familiar all-star lineup including Henry Cavill (Superman), Helena Bonham Carter (Alice in Wonderland), and Sam Clafin (Me Before You).
4. Welcome To Sudden Death
Release Date: September 29th
Streaming App: Netflix
A remake of the 1995 movie “Sudden Death”. This action follow-up flick landed the perfect front man: actor and martial artist Michael Jai White to play the part of a disgruntled father whose daughter has been kidnaped by a mysterious stranger from the past. Given that this movie title hasn’t received much push from Netflix, our expectations are veered from a well-written motion picture to that of an entertaining movie packed with enough action to keep us pleasantly amused from scene to scene.
5. Love, Guaranteed
Release Date: September 3rd, 2020
Streaming App: Netflix
Time for some much-needed humor. This romantic comedy rounds out our list, pulling at our heartstrings while lending some generous giggles. This farce film follows a stunning female lawyer, played by Rachel Leigh Cook, who is seeking to save her law firm by taking on an equally attractive, wealthy client attempting to sue a website that guarantees you will find love. Spoiler Alert: the website did not work for him. Ripe with romance and comedic relief, this flick is sure to lift your spirits as a full-proof, feel-good movie.
With all these enticing watches in September, you won’t be leaving your couch anytime soon. Strap in. Grab your snacks (first-priority), quarantine buddies, and refreshments, and let your eyes feast on these fantastic films. Which one are you most excited to watch? Let us know!
